I have decided to share my artistic journey online. this original post is from 2021 when i was "incognito" bc i had fear about how my art would be received. i'm over that now. age will do that for ya. i pinned the post anyway bc it is still relevant. here it is: In an effort to get beyond the social media game, i am committing to present my art on this website. but, i want to make it more personal than just an art website where one can view/purchase art. i want to share in th

Silent Tears
Silent tear on lonely faces Crippling fear in happy places No one sees and no one feels Playing the hand that pain deals Andi Sword 5/5/2015 one that sticks with me still. i painted this wayyyy back when i had a studio in Ashland. i wrote the poetry first, then i painted this oil painting to express it. the painting belongs to my cousin Christie now. we exchanged for some of her amazing photography that i am a proud owner of. as i'm looking at this painting again, right now,

Angel Pup
9x11" ink and marker on bristol paper i created this drawing back in january of 2022 while our precious little beagle dog "Bubba" was dying. my son Cole found him wondering around at Grayson Lakes Bruin boat ramp one day when we had taken our other two dogs (who have also passed away now) out there to play in the water. Bubba was a true beagle. liked to wander, and the day we found him, i'm sure it was because he had gotten off on a deer scent and gotten lost. anyway, he fit

Yeah, what he said...
So i finished reading "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck last night. i'm so glad my mother recommended it to me a few months or so back. yes, i should have read it years ago, and yes, i know it's on Netflix and I plan to watch it; but I always try to read the book before i watch the movie. I like using my own imagination first. I'm sure Florence Pugh plays a killer Cathy Ames and all, but i kinda like how i have her pictured in my mind right now. anyway, like many classic novel

my art is not a whore
my art is not a whore she is not desperate for the admiration of men she will not be a prostitute for money gain or temporary highs she refuses to be ordinary and accommodating to aesthetics rather, she can be a bitch hard to pursue and rarely obtained she will stay hidden and quiet until she perceives what she feels is real her integrity and instinct will not fail her and when the mood and mind are in time with the soul and spirit, she appears sometimes she screams ad charge

Morning Tea With Me
34x24" acrylic on canvas one of my favorites yet! this is my "still life" painting of an imaginary tea party. red and yellow roses in vases with a cup and saucer and a blue table cloth. this painting belongs to Madelyn Thomas now and she has it hanging beautifully in her kitchen/dining room. i'm so happy about that!! I do not have prints for this one only bc prints would never do it justice. the energy in it definitely gets lost in a photo.

The House of Mourning
24x18" mixed media on bristol paper I shared this one recently on instagram/facebook, but it needs a spot here the most. "The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. Ecclesiastes 7:4" I created this one back in February of this year (2026) on my dining room table. i'm very happy to say the original belongs to Ella Webster now. So this one is definitely a "let's see where it goes" piece. I began with a quick doodle of sor

Alone?
36x36" original 24x24" prints available here i created this 36x36" painting for Cole Chaney. I wanted to paint my interpretation of his song "Alone?", which is one of my favorite songs he's written and composed up to this point in his musical career. This one has MANY layers and lots of texture (just like his song!) Lots of vibrancy and energy too. all energy coming from one source in the center. My idea was creating a visual for "the wheel inside the wheel", the Trinity. bei

the burning barrel
when i was growing up out in the country, my dad kept a burning barrel down back of the yard, beside the creek. we took paper trash there to burn at least weekly, if not more frequently, as i recall. it was a normal thing and i thought everybody did it. maybe they didn't, who knows. my community scope wasn't real broad at the time. anyway, as i was drinking my coffee this afternoon, i was thinking about how we need a mental/spiritual burning barrel within us. a place where yo

Floating Leaf Song
click here to purchase the original click here to purchase a print this is a 12x12" mixed media piece i did last winter in January. I was hanging out in my little camper late at night bc i adopted it as my smaller private studio in the driveway. I work night shift and when everyone's home and in bed, i go out there where i can have good light and sit at the table and create smaller pieces. It's quiet, cozy and I can concentrate. I like the space. Anyway, I had just watched Gu

"Soul Space"
I created this 36x24" painting over a period of a few days. here's what i had in mind when i painted this one: there is a little old country church with a grave yard that is burning in a fire. the woods are on fire all around. the fire has been burning for a while and everything is charred and in embers. you can see the faint image of a cross high above the church. the soul space is to the right where all the souls await in the heavens. in contrast to the burning fire, the so

"Tera Rose"
"Tera Rose" 18x24" mixed media on bristol paper "tera", greek for monster, came out of this one. i began with alcohol markers and drew in the beginning of what came to be the form of a rose and then shifted towards a more medical/biological idea. striations of muscle, cells, nerves and structures that reminded me of what i might see under a microscope. i used many different colors, many that i don't particularly like. i used acrylic markers along with soft pastels and oil pas

"Can't See for the Trees"
36x36" acrylic, & oil pastel on canvas This piece of work invites you to take a deeper look after absorbing the big picture. much like our forests, there is color, form & texture everywhere. there is so much to discover when you allow yourself time & childlike wonder in just being present. not only can you experience the visible & tangible beauty, you can hear and feel the vibration of Life (as in THE Life) communicating with life. it can become a connection that resonates in

like a borrowed umbrella
this is a picture of a very small magnet that i happen to acquire from a deceased old lady’s fridge. i believe it’s probably homemade because it’s taped together and somewhat fragile. or maybe it’s just old like she was…in her 90’s i was told. anyhow, it reminds me of a story told in a recent book i read called “Barracoon” by Zora Neal Hurston about the life of Cudjoe Lewis. The book is set in 1927 and it’s about the last (supposedly) slave cargo ship and a man who survived.
